Lists of recommended anime these days fall on the pillar of genre basis. It’s the best fundamental way to point new fans in the right direction but makes me wonder if people look for recommendations not for genre alone.
Will anime ever run out of ideas? I’m sure this question has come across your mind at some point. I’m sure people have felt certain anime plots have become exhausted over the years, in sports series the underdog reaching his dream, misconceptionS that occur in love triangles, novice heroes becoming real heroes through trials. It’s happening on the repeat, being diverse is getting harder as newer anime is pouring out like a waterfall, keeps falling down into our laps for you to ask yourself. What plot ideas/genres has anime not covered yet?
Introducing anime to non anime fans for the first time is one of the most periling things I find in this hobby. You can search up in google all these millions of lists “Beginners guide to anime” “Non anime fans beginner lists”, all these lists based on other people’s opinions, of what anime’s would be the best picks to introduce to non anime fans. The majority of lists I read have only have all the of the most popular anime out there, Cowboy bepop, Full metal alchemist. I agree with suggesting some of those popular titles as they are a lot of anime fans gateway into anime themselves but lists like this is not giving non anime people, the full scope of what anime has to offer.
