Other Nerdy Stuff

This segment in my blog gives me a chance to talk my feels on things that I have become obssessed with and hoping people discover something new. Let’s get our NERD ON !!!

Favorite Anime

Hanasaku Iroha

Slice of life seems to be creeping up into third place of favorite anime genre. I started the series Hanasaku Iroha earlier this month, I’m only on episode 4 currently. Ohana’s mother decides to run away with her boyfriend from debt collectors, and leaves her daughter Ohana in the care of grandmother who runs an inn. Ohana doesn’t know the meaning of hard work and soon discovers there is much for her to learn.

I felt like watching something from the amazing P.A works again, just love their shiny animation. Yes.. There animation is shiny and beautiful. From only watching a few episodes, I like the flow of the series, I’m excited to see Ohana’s character growth. The perils of Ohana learning of not everything in life is easy through each episode, makes me think the build up of a new perspective she’ll come to realize. This will be a series I am in no hurry to finish right away but have chosen to watch in between other things. You know as a get away if I need something not full on.

Favorite Manga

Haha look who is a favorite again this month Kobato. But would you believe I only finished this short series this week. I need a fine line of watching anime, I don’t fit enough time in for manga read which I’m a little disappointed in myself about. This beautiful clamp piece was so enjoyable to read, it’s been a battle to decide if I prefer the manga or the anime. Truth is I like them both so much and hope to do a comparison on both once I’ve re watched the anime. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it, Though I’ll say the manga you find out more about Kobato’s origin. Where the anime doesn’t cover that but I’d highly recommend reading this if your needing something to lift your spirits.

Favorite Anime Song

I wrote recently this month a review on a top 5 anime favorite of mine Escaflowne. Writing reviews usually take me a long time to be a 100% happy with, I always listen to the soundtrack of the anime I am reviewing. I was blown away in honesty while listening to some of the tracks from the four soundtracks this series has. My favorite If I had to pick one would be “White Dove”, it’s a very serene tune but then half way through the song, someone starts singing in English. It’s a strange song and that is probably why I like it so much.

All the music to Escaflowne resonates with the series, conveying, stretching out every emotion possible. The strongest strength is the choir vocals and abrupt nature of the music, and with talents like Yoko Kanno behind the scenes of some of this work. You know your in for a treat click here to read my review.

Favorite Purchase

September been a dead month of buying not much manga or anime, but while I was in the city I decided to visit the anime store. Every time I usually go in there, I work out with nothing because I am such a tight ass with money all the time. Though I noticed a series I’d read a while back from my local library was up for a bargain offer. Buy one volume get the other free HELL YES !! So I got volume one and two, getting the other volumes before the end of the year. It felt good to buy some mangas again as it had been so long, I like only collecting manga’s I know I’ll re read honestly.

Planning for October to not restrict myself too much as my local anime store is having it’s 15th anniversary, so I know they’ll be doing something special. If anyone is interested I did review this series way back, shoujo and vampires oh I was hooked.

Other Nerdy Buys

Earlier this month was out shopping with mum and she noticed this Bambi shirt. I am obsessed with anything to do with this film, was a introduction in my disney phase. I had been wanting a bambi shirt for so long, I have a jumper now A SHIRT!! Was $15 was bargain.

September was a bit dead still purchase wise but my level of watching anime has increased all thanks to signing away my life to streaming services. Now we have netflix… me someone ahaha. This year is flying by fast holy crap but December will be here before you know it and usually is mass hauls for me around that time !! Let’s hope !!

Keep up with my nerdy antics on my Instagram

I’ll see you all in the next post! 😀

      1. Well besides that bullshit, do you by chance love animated movies from Don Bluth? Such as “Secret of Nimh”, “An American Tail”, “An American Tail: Fievel Goes West” and that “Balto” movie?

      2. I was talking about Don Bluth and his movies. And you should’ve seen the sequel, “An American Tail: Fievel Goes West”. That was James Stewart’s last movie in his life as an actor.
