Favorite Anime

I hopped on the summer season late and one of the shows I really wanted to check out, exceeded of what I thought it was going to be like. Amanchu without a doubt was my favorite for this month, being about the ocean, diving and a developing friendship between two adorable girls. This series really drove me back into the slice of life genre as a few years ago I was never a huge fan of it, but Amanchu has made me so keen to check out other slice of life now. I did a first impression write up on what I thought of Amanchu which you can read here but still totally in love with this series.

I’ve loved anything to do with the ocean and didn’t think I’d find something as enchanting from when I saw Nagi no Asukara. But again I was so surprised how such a simple show is so serene and soothing and amazing aquatic visuals. It’s just turned spring where I live, soon will be summer and this series makes me excited for seeing the ocean again.

Favorite Manga

Last month I borrowed a whole stack of manga from my local library, still haven’t got half way through. One I am currently reading Kobato  that’s by the famous Clamp, I’ve seen the anime to this charming series a long time ago. Eventually would like to do a manga, anime comparison between the two but so far the manga is winning the round for now. The art work makes it a extra enjoyable, reading experience and it’s so nice to revisit this slice of life series.

The story is about Kobato fulfilling her wish to go to a certain place. In order to do this she must fill up a bottle full of Konpeito after when she heals a person’s heart. Well worth the read or watch it’s a very relaxing series with exploring the daily joys of life.

Favorite Anime Song

Aha… what a surprise but not sure if this song is available for download but Amanchu wins this round too. The opening song “Million Clouds” sung by
Maaya Sakamoto, ugh god this song is beyond beautiful suits the atmosphere of the show perfectly. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard Maaya sing, first time I discovered her was listening to the Gundam seed destiny OST. One pretty song I loved from that album was “Tune The Rainbow” that she sung. I feel her voice resonates more with the Amanchu opening and she sounds sensational, this is definitely a tune I’ll be listening to this upcoming summer.

Favorite Purchase

Anime collecting has been very slow over the last two months still, hoping this will change over the next few months as I feel I’ve been good for too long now. Last month I picked up a older series because of a fellow blogger friend Shiro’s review on it, she put this series is high regard and her review style can be very convincing. She was very happy when I told her I bought it, was about $22 on ebay for the whole series which is pretty good for a 26 episode series. I forgot to take a picture for instagram for it so picture above will have to do but I have yet to watch it. I’m hoping to watch it this month sometime as the last two series, I’ve bought I’ve not watched yet.

Infinite Ryvius is about these young astronauts having to make the long journey home on their own, after the ship is diverted off course and all the adults are killed. I love the plot idea and haven’t watched a series about space for ages XD

That’s all for August favorites sadly didn’t end up getting much else nerdy, just haven’t seen anything lately that has caught my eye. Hopefully I’ll see something when I go op shopping this week !! 🙂

Keep up with my nerdy antics on my Instagram

I’ll see you all in the next post! 😀

      1. The tournament is running so that 16 series started out, paired up, and I compared the first episode of each pair, scoring them in various categories. The winners then moved on to round two, with the pairings being scored on slightly different criteria for episode two. As a result, I’ve only just finished the quarter finals, and so am only two episodes in for each show that’s made it that far. Since I only post once a week most weeks though, that’s 12 battles down and four more to go: the semi finals will be episode three battles, and the final and third place play-off will be episode four battles. After that, I can watch any of the shows that I liked more solidly 🙂
